Enabling Product Catalog Data stored within Webstores and Platforms to be successfully converted and re-used across multiple channels, no matter what the format. Streamline online operations and increase efficiency. Convert from Magento, Amazon AWS, Volusion, XCart, Bigcommerce, Shopify, EKM Powershop and other Webstores into the required Channel format.

Moving from Single Channel to Multi Channel

Online operations for many Manufacturers, Wholesalers and Retail Businesses may be driven through a single online channel, the Webstore or Transactional Platform.

When the requirement arises to extend existing single channel operations to sell through other channel such as Marketplaces and Online Venues, the issue then becomes one of exporting and translating the master product catalog stored within the Webstore or Transactional Platform into a format and structure that meets the requirements of the selected channel.

Consideration for Webstore or Platform  Data

The situation then arises on the optimal method to successfully re-use existing data stored within the webstore and moving it to the desired channel in the format that is required.  The task may seem straight forward as the existing webstore data is being used to generate online sales, but many problems are encountered.

Typically most Webstores and Platforms have been customised to meet the requirements of the business with custom fields added and unused fields being depreciated. Custom Taxonomies will have been created with unique internal business codes that only have any meaningful reference to the business.

The addition of implemented bespoke scripts and export plugins from various suppliers lead to a highly customised exports of data (format, structure and content).

Managing Structure, Format and Content

The situation then arises on the optimal method to successfully re-use existing data stored within the webstore and moving it to the desired channel in the format that is required.  The task may seem straight forward as the existing webstore data is being used to generate online sales, but many problems are encountered.

To success move the customised Webstore and Platform data exports to match the format and data specification requirements of the new channel, a series of processes have to take place to allow for full compatibility of mandatory requirements specified by the channel. These series of processes are what create a bottleneck.

The quicker the progression through these stage the greater the business efficiency and the lower the overall resource requirements to meet the demand

The Process

1)  Structuring and Exporting Data (Excel, XML, CSV,TSV,etc)
2)  Re-Mapping of Data Elements (Titles, Descriptions, Image Links, Price, etc)
3)  Re-Classifying of Internal Codes & Taxonomies
4) Multi-Classify Products in Different Dimensions (Custom Specifics, Attributes, Keywords, Alternative Titles)
5) Enrichment of Data Values (Fill In Missing Data that is Required)
6) Personalisation of Data (PayPal, Shop ID, Methods of Payments, Despatch Times, Custom and Return Policies)
7) Transformation into  a new Data Format and Structure

These tasks are time consuming and time critical and have a direct impact on the total volume of products listed, levels of lost sales opportunities and internal resource requirements.

Bypassing the Bottleneck

A standard export module acts as a bolt-on to extract information from the webstore and may present it in the file structure that the channel specifies, however it has only completed a small part of the subtasks processing required to successfully integrate data with the channel.

The main problem is the export module has no direct knowledge about your business data and has not been able to re-classify, multi-classify, enrich or personalise it. Thus bypass four of the essential stages required to meet the new channels mandatory and optional data requirements. If the data is imported/ uploaded without processing at these four stages it will fail, listing cannot be generated and sales cannot be made.

The solution to bypassing these issues involves the design and use of advanced custom mappings (data feed) based on the customised Webstore and Platform export. By processing the exported data through all of the subtask stages it can then be transformed to meet requirements of the selected Channel (Structure, Format, ID's, Taxonomies, Item Specifics, Content, etc.). This solution allows rapid and accurate conversion of data from one channel to another bypassing the bottleneck issue.
